Man City defender Benjamin Mendy charged with two additional counts of rape

The Crown Prosecution Service has revealed that Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been charged with two more counts of rape. 

Mendy was suspended by Man City in August as a police investigation continued into his alleged wrongdoing.

As is reported by the BBC, Mendy was initially charged with four counts of rape, which were alleged to have taken place between October 2020 and August 2021.

News has broken this morning via the Crown Prosecution Service that an additional two counts of rape have been added on top of what Mendy was already accused of.

That takes the total allegations to six counts of rape, as well as one count of sexual assault, with all complainants understood to be over the age of 16.

Mendy continues to be held in custody, having been denied bail. His trial date has been set for January 24th next year.
