Lionel Messi is in contention to make his debut for Paris Saint-Germain against Brest this evening, Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.

It still seems surreal that Messi is no longer a Barcelona player, yet we could be just hours away from his PSG debut.

PSG will be taking on Ligue 1 counterparts Brest this evening at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, with Pochettino confirming that the ground could play host to only the second ever club debut in Messi’s career.

Pochettino is quoted by The Sun saying:

“We haven’t decided the squad yet. We will assess whether Messi can be a part of it.”

“Everything is positive. There is a good atmosphere in the squad and he has settled in well and quickly.”

“There is a very good feeling.”

Lionel Messi could make his PSG debut this evening

It seems improbable that either will be given the opportunity to start tonight, but both could get minutes on the pitch if Pochettino deem them ready.

From a neutral’s perspective, we’re itching to see Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on the field of play together and building chemistry.

The prospect of seeing the three of them light up the Champions League this season is surely the football world’s most exciting feature at current.
