Liverpool suffer potentially MAJOR injury blow during victory over Inter Milan

Liverpool have potentially suffered a considerable injury blow, with Diogo Jota having damaged his ankle against Inter Milan.

All told, it was a successful evening for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Despite the abolishment of the away goals rule, taking a two-goal advantage back to Anfield puts them perfectly poised to seal their progression into the next round of the Champions League.

However, not every Liverpool player was able to make it through the contest unscathed. Diogo Jota, who has been phenomenal for the Reds this campaign, was withdrawn as a substitute and replaced by goalscorer Roberto Firmino.

Jurgen Klopp revealed post-match that there was potentially serious damage done to Jota’s ankle, with the early understanding being that he has damaged ligaments in that area.

“I’m really happy with everything, apart from that Diogo had to go off with something around the ankle ligament. We will see, we don’t know exactly.”

“He could have played on, maybe that’s a good sign, but at half-time, the ankle was swollen anyway so we knew we had to change.”

Until scans take place there really is no way to know for sure how badly injured Jota is, so for now, Liverpool fans will be tightly crossing their fingers in hope that he is able to escape without serious damage done.
