Club World Cup stars burst into tears at minute’s silence for Diogo Jota

Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves broke down in tears as the FIFA Club World Cup paid tribute to Diogo Jota.

Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, passed away in a tragic accident on Thursday morning.

Ahead of Al-Hilal’s game with Fluminense, a minute’s silence was held in Jota’s honour.

Neves couldn’t control his emotions, and teammates had to console him. He has played with Jota for club and country for over a decade.

Cancelo was also seen in tears at the tragic loss of the Liverpool star.

Jota played alongside both Cancelo and Neves for the Portugal national team, and recently won the Nations League with his country.

Cancelo had played 32 games alongside Jota. Neves, on the other hand, lined up with Jota 164 times across the last decade at both Porto and Wolves as well as various levels in their national team.

Fluminense players and coaches joined in the silence and were also seen wearing black armbands in tribute.
