According to a bombshell report by AS, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is keen on pairing Cristiano Ronaldo with Lionel Messi at the Nou Camp.
Ronaldo has one year left to run on his contract with Juventus, but considering the COVID-19 pandemic has created an unfavourable financial climate for even the biggest of clubs, and the superstar has one of the biggest salaries in the sport, you find it difficult to imagine him moving this summer.
Yet, AS have quite sensationally claimed that Barca president Laporta is not being deterred. Instead, Laporta could put together a player-swap package in hope of tempting Juventus into the sale of Ronaldo, thus pairing him with fellow footballing icon Messi with the Spanish giants.

The report notes that Antoine Griezmann, Philippe Coutinho and Sergi Roberto have all been mooted as potential exchange options. It remains to be seen whether Juventus would be keen on any of them, or as AS question themselves, how exactly Barca would fund Ronaldo’s wages.
As transfer rumours go, this one seems a little pie in the sky. Though, football has surprised us before, and there’s a possibility, albeit a small one, that we could see Ronaldo linking up with Messi at Barcelona ahead of next season.
