Tyson Fury’s promotor keeps hopes alive of Anthony Joshua unification bout

Tyson Fury’s promotor, Bob Arum, has kept hopes alive of a unification bout between The Gypsy King and heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua, report Sky Sports.

As is mentioned in the report, there were initially unsigned proposals for Fury and Joshua to take to the ring in Saudi Arabia this year. However, an agreement was never actually reached.

After a court order essentially forced Fury into accepting a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, he had no choice but to abandon plans to face AJ and instead head to the U.S.

While some will fear that Fury and Joshua may have missed their opportunity to fight one another, promotor Bob Arum has kept hope alive of the fight being made in the future.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua were due to fight in Saudi Arabia this summer

He’s quoted by Sky Sports saying:

“There were no break downs between the Fury side and the Joshua side. None.”

“The fight couldn’t be finalised for Saudi Arabia and then the arbitrator in the Wilder situation felt that he could, if he decided the case for Wilder, enjoin Fury from fighting anybody else other than Wilder.

“But again, there was no signed contract for that fight. That’s what happened. It’s as plain and as simple as that.”

Assuming Fury beats Wilder and Joshua retains his belts against Oleksandr Usyk, there’s every possibility we could see Fury v Joshua actually take place at some point next year. We shall see…
