Minnesota Vikings create NFL history in win over Indianapolis Colts

The NFL witnessed more history-making today as the Minnesota Vikings broke the record for overturning the biggest deficit, winning 39-36 after being down 33-0 at halftime.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw four second half touchdowns to make it 36-34 with a couple of minutes left, before a two-point conversion levelled the scores to take the game to overtime.

The Vikings then took victory in the final seconds of OT with a 40-yard field goal.

Cousins was as shocked as everyone else in the stadium at the end of the match – when he was asked how he managed to lead his team to a historic victory, the quarterback replied: “We just pulled off the biggest comeback in NFL history.”

The Vikings beat the previous record set by the Buffalo Bills in 1993 when they won against the now-defunct Houston Oilers after being 32-0 at the half.

Winning the match meant the Vikings win the NFC North title for the first time in five years, as they improve to 11-3, while the Colts fall to 4-9-1.
