Messi departed Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 after it became clear that the two parties would not be able to agree terms on an extension.
The Argentinian endured a difficult debut campaign at Paris Saint-Germain, perhaps the first difficult campaign of his entire, illustrious footballing career.
While Messi will be hoping to improve on that with PSG this time around, there is some suggestion that there could already be consideration to leave the Parc des Princes.

While Messi remains a world-class footballer, Barcelona can ill afford to be making any sentimental transfer moves considering their current financial predicament.
You’d think it bizarre to say ‘no’ to Messi, but Xavi ought to focus on how he can take Barcelona forward, rather than looking back at past days of glory.
