Mason Greenwood has been further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed.
Greenwood was arrested by police on Sunday following accusations made by his girlfriend via her Instagram story, which included photo, video and audio evidence of the England international’s alleged abuse.
The 20-year-old was brought into custody on suspicion of rape and assault. He has been held by police ever since, with confirmation coming via a statement today that they have not only received a further extension to their time allowed to question him, but he has also now been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have confirmed that Greenwood will not partake in training or play any part in matches until further notice. The Red Devils have not formally suspended the player, who will continue to be paid in full, according to information provided by The Athletic.
Nike have suspended their affiliation with the forward, Man United have halted the sale of any Greenwood-branded merchandise in the club’s store and he has also been removed from FIFA 22 by EA Sports.
