Argentinian UFC fighter Santiago Ponzinibbio had a tribute for the late great Diego Maradona during his weigh-in faceoff today before Fight Island 7.
The ‘Argentine Dagger’ has a proffesional record of 28 wins and 3 losses but just months ago he told he would never fight again according to an interview with Bloody Elbow.
Santiago suffered from a very serious staph infection which saw him miss his fight with Robbie Lawlor in 2019 and spend almost two years out of the octagon completely but now he has made his return.
He fights Li Jingliang on January 16th for Fight Island 7. During his weigh-in face off he got his chance to pay tribute to a hero of his, the late Diego Maradona.
Diego died November 25th 2020 and this has been Santiago’s first chance to acknowledge his death in the public eye and what a fitting tribute as Lu Jingliang joined in holding the banner in honour of the Argentinian footballer.
