Australia were narrowly defeated by Argentina 2-1 yesterday in the Round of 16 as the Socceroos were sent home from what was overall a very impressive tournament from the team.
Lionel Messi was of course the star of the show, scoring a goal for his side and producing a world-class display that proved he is still the best player on the planet.
After matches, there are always opportunities for players to take photos with fans but this time it was the opposite, as the Australian players couldn’t resist a photo with Messi as the Argentine was passing through the hall at the stadium.

Messi was asked for some pictures, and he duly obliged, with Joel King and Marco Tilio the two lucky men to pose with the footballing great for a picture.

Despite the defeat, the moment with Messi and the tournament as a whole will be something the Australian players will never forget, as they bow out of Qatar with their heads held high.
