Pele gives positive update after news on health scare

This morning, it was revealed that Pele was to be given “end of life care” after failing to respond to chemotherapy as he battles with bowel cancer.

However, the footballing icon, who won three World Cups with Brazil between 1958 and 1970, released a message to the world this evening with an update on his health saying: “My friends, I want to keep everyone calm and positive. I’m strong with a lot of hope and I follow my treatment as usual.

“I want to thank the medical and nursing team for the care I have received. I have faith in God and every message I receive from you keeps me full of energy.”

The 82-year-old was given messages of support from the likes of France forward Kylian Mbappe, Brazil winger Vinicius Jr, and also Jurgen Klinsmann, who called Pele “the voice of Brazilian football.”
