Oleksandr Usyk has revealed that he will drop down to cruiserweight to fight Canelo Alvarez on one condition.
Usyk established his credentials as one of the finest pound-for-pound fighters in the world by becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion of the world.
The Ukrainian is now the unified heavyweight champion, having defeated Anthony Joshua at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a convincing performance back in September.
Usyk has little more to prove in the sport, but he appears to be one of those fighters who really would fight ANYONE… Canelo Alvarez included.
During an interview with BoxingInsider, Usyk revealed that he would be willing to drop back down to cruiserweight in order to fight Canelo – but only on one condition.

“Yes, I can fight him at cruiserweight. But with only one thing – I keep my belts at heavyweight.”
“Then I go back to cruiserweight and fight him and then I come back to heavyweight.”
Canelo, following his victory over Caleb Plant, made the decision to bulk up to cruiserweight in order to fight Ilunga Makabu and attempt to become a five-weight world champion.
If he passes that test, it remains to be seen whether he’d stick around in the division and defend his title, potentially against Usyk, or will move on to other endeavours.
