Mohamed Salah has provided an update on his contract situation at Liverpool – and it’ll ring alarm bells in the minds of the supporters.
Salah has been the best-performing player in Europe of the first-half of the season. His contributions alone have kept Liverpool’s title hopes alive. There really is no overstating his importance to Jurgen Klopp’s men.
However, with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2023, there is some doubt over whether he will be playing his football at Anfield long-term. In just a year’s time, he’ll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club he likes.
Salah, so he claims, doesn’t want to. The Egyptian superstar has revealed his desire to stay at the club, but insists that his demands must be met in order for him to agree terms and sign along the dotted line.
Mo Salah on his contract: “I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands. It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I’m not asking for crazy stuff”, he told GQ. 🔴 #LFC

It is certainly comparable to Liverpool’s efforts to retain Gini Wijnaldum, with FSG unable to match his wage demands and having no choice but to watch him walk out the door and join Paris Saint-Germain.
You imagine FSG will be even more determined to keep hold of Salah, but the fact they have not yet caved and given him what he wants is not a particularly positive sign from a Liverpool perspective.
