Why petulant Cristiano Ronaldo BLOCKED football website Transfermarkt

Posted by

Cristiano Ronaldo previously complained to football website Transfermarkt before BLOCKING them over his estimated transfer value.

Transfermarkt is one of the most renowned football websites on the internet and is incredibly useful when it comes to researching numerical and financial information relating to football that you’d struggle to find elsewhere.

The website also uses its own metrics to estimate each footballer’s transfer value, which is where the story begins for Daniel Busch, Transfermarkt’s UK manager, who has spoken during an interview with The Athletic.

Busch told a quite bonkers tale of how Ronaldo, clearly in disagreement over his estimated transfer value, messaged Transfermarkt complaining before deciding to block them.

“We put a list on Instagram with 10 players, 33 and older, and Ronaldo was still in first place in value, but he said he must be worth much more.”

“He sent a message first to our social media guys. They answered him, explained why, and told him, ‘The people in your age group, you are by far the number one’.”

“It was £30-50 million difference (between Ronaldo and the next player on the list), and then he sent some smilies, and then he blocked us.”

It’s utter petulance from CR7, but the kind that you could expect from him, someone who believes that he’s the number one in the sport and that should be reflected in all possible instances.

We’d just be happy to have had direct contact with the man himself – even if it wasn’t so complimentary!
