Manchester United have been slated on talkSPORT for their attempts to take Newcastle United to the cleaners over Jesse Lingard.
Lingard is out of contract with the Red Devils at the end of the season and considering he’s struggling for game-time under Ralf Rangnick, it’s no surprise that he is thought to be keen on securing a January exit away from the club.
Newcastle United have been the side most closely linked with a move for Lingard, with the newly cash-rich Geordies understood to have opened negotiations with Man United over getting a deal done.
However, as is reported by the Guardian, United have demanded £15m from Newcastle merely to loan Lingard until the end of the season. The player himself is believed to feel ‘dismayed’ – and understandably so.

With Lingard’s proposed switch to St. James’ Park on the verge of collapse, potentially leaving him in limbo for another six months in a World Cup year, Man United’s behaviour hasn’t left many particularly impressed.
Ally McCoist, appearing as a phone-in guest on talkSPORT, absolutely slammed Man United’s treatment of Lingard and branded it unfair on both Newcastle and the player himself.
😡 “Man Utd are taking advantage of Newcastle’s owners.”
🤝 “Newcastle should get the same deal as when West Ham got Lingard.”
😤 “If they are taking advantage and it is affecting Jesse I am not happy.”

Do you agree with McCoist, or are United within their rights to take a hard stance?
