Conor McGregor has taken to Twitter to react to the news that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Manchester United.
McGregor is Man United supporter and previously gave his backing to Solskjaer, who was struggling in the final stages of his Man United tenure.
He will have been as stunned as anyone on Sunday morning as news broke that Man United had finally decided to throw in the towel with the Norwegian.
He doesn’t appear to have taken any pleasure from it, with the UFC superstar taking to Twitter to thank Ole and send him his well-wishes.
I want to give a major shout out, and a huge thank you to the living legend that is Ole Gunnar Solskjær!
Ole you are forever, Sir!
Icon! Inspiration! Hero! Legend!
Thank you Ole ❤️ @ManUtd— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) November 21, 2021

MORE: Manchester United identify number one choice to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
It’s uncharacteristically classy from McGregor, who evidently recognises just how much Solskjaer has done for the club, both as a player and a manager.
Yes, he’s not of the required standard to kick on and win trophies, but he steadied the ship and laid foundations for future success under new management.
He deserves his due credit.
