Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked by Manchester United, leaving the permanent managerial position vacant.

Solskjaer’s position in the Man United dugout became untenable, with the club making the decision in wake of the defeat to Watford to give him his marching orders.

While some Man United fans will be celebrating that Solskjaer has finally been relieved of his duties, it’s only a couple of days before the team are back in action, without a permanent manager.

The Red Devils face Villarreal in the Champions League midweek before heading to Stamford Bridge to take on the Premier League leaders at the weekend. There’s a tricky period on the horizon for United.

As revealed in the statement posted on the club’s official website, former midfielder Michael Carrick will be the man holding the reins for the games ahead, until an alternative interim manager is appointed.
