Manchester United have confirmed that ‘first-team operations’ have ceased at their training ground amid a COVID-19 outbreak.
There were reports on Sunday of COVID-19 cases at Carrington among players and staff, but ALL of those who travelled to Carrow Road to face Norwich City were understood to have tested negative.
We now wonder if the situation has escalated since then, with Man United reporting (via manutd.com) this afternoon that first-team operations have been forced to come to an end as a consequence of the coronavirus situation at Carrington.

Manchester United have closed down Carrington due to Covid outbreak + are in discussions with Premier League about tomorrow’s game at Brentford.
Possible cancellation.
“Team travel to London will be deferred pending the result of that discussion.”

This could, of course, be preventative measures, or Man United’s scheduled tussle with Brentford tomorrow night could have been thrown into serious doubt. If the team are unable to train, are they able to play?
Unfortunately, you get the feeling that we’re going to have to get used to this level of disruption over the festive period, with Man United just one of a number of Premier League teams to report positive cases over the past fortnight.
