Jurgen Klopp’s comments over rivals’ mega-spending backfire as Liverpool’s INSANE wage bill is leaked

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hasn’t been one to shy away from criticising this summer’s mega-spending, but is it a case of the pot calling the kettle black?

Klopp and Pep Guardiola are currently locked in a war of words from press conference to press conference, with Manchester City showing no hesitation in opening their (pretty sizeable) wallet and Klopp feeling the need to moan about it.

Liverpool’s only signing of note this summer has been Ibrahima Konate, who was acquired before the window even opened. No replacement has yet been signed for Gini Wijnaldum, who left on a free transfer to PSG.

The Merseyside giants have NOT showed the willingness to invest in the squad that Man City, Chelsea, Man United and even Arsenal have this summer, with Klopp continually suggesting they don’t have the means.

It’s worth noting, though, that for club without the necessary financial resources to compete, they have a quite sizeable wage bill – even bigger than the champions of Europe!

Perhaps Klopp’s comments in the public eye have been made in hope of convincing FSG to splash the cash, but it’s safe to say that hasn’t had the desired effect, if it were his intention.

Instead, he has been left looking a fool, especially having only won the league by spending world-record fees on a new defender (Virgil Van Dijk) and goalkeeper (Alisson Becker).

Liverpool have huge sums of cash at their disposal – and they spend it. Klopp ought to stop making uses and start focusing on how he can get the most out of this HUGELY expensive squad.
