David Coote could make a return to football in the future.
Coote was sacked from his post after a series of damaging videos emerged
In one he is seen calling Jurgen Klopp an āarrogant German c***ā, and in another taking Class-A drugs while working as an official at Euro 2024.
Despite his refereeing career coming to an end Coote has been backed to become a VAR instructor according to a friend close to him.
They told the Sun: āHeās built up an incredible wealth of knowledge and skill. It would be a massive shame if that was lost because of mistakes he made while under moments of incredible stress.
āHe still gets on with all the other referees and I could see him taking a role somewhere. Heād be perfect as aĀ VARĀ pundit or expert.ā

Yesterday the Ex-Premier League referee came out as game and gave his first interview since the video scandal.
Speaking to The Sun he said:.āI felt a deep sense of shame during my teenage years in particular.
āI didnāt come out to my parents until I was 21. I didnāt come out to my friends until I was 25.
āMy sexuality isnāt the only reason that led me to be in that position. But Iām not telling an authentic story if I donāt say that Iām gay, and that Iāve had real struggles dealing with hiding that.
āI hid my emotions as a young ref and I hid my sexuality as well ā a good quality as a referee but a terrible quality as a human being.
āAnd thatās led me to a whole course of behaviours.ā
He continued:Ā āIāve had issues around my self-esteem ā and that relates to my sexuality. Iām gay and Iāve struggled with feeling proud of being āmeā over a long period of time.
āI have received deeply unpleasant abuse during my career as a ref and to add my sexuality to that would have been really difficult.
āThereās a lot to be done throughout football and more widely in society with regard to discrimination.
āI didnāt want to be that person that was putting their head above the parapet to be shot at, given the abuse we all get as a referee in any event.ā
On his cocaine use he admitted it was an escape for him from the stresses of his role.
āItās not something I was reliant on day by day, week by week, month by month.
āIāve had longĀ periodsĀ where Iāve not used it ā but it was one of the escape routes I had. Just getting away from the stresses, the relentlessness of the job. It fills me with a huge sense of shame to say that I took that route.ā
āI donāt recognise myself in the cocaine video. I canāt resonate with how I felt then, but that was me. I was struggling with the schedule and there was no opportunity to stop. And so I found myself in that position ā escaping.ā
Coote was dismissed in December after being āin serious breach of the provisions of his employment contract, with his position deemed untenableā.
