Gary Neville “baffled” by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s treatment of Man United midfielder

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed that he is “baffled” by the treatment of summer signing Donny van de Beek.

van de Beek arrived at Manchester United in the summer transfer window, but has been used scarcely by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during the Dutchman’s debut campaign at Old Trafford.

As was reported by the BBC at the time, Man United paid £35M plus £5M in add-ons to get the van de Beek deal over the line, which leaves you wondering why he hasn’t played.

Ultimately, only Solskjaer knows why van de Beek’s omission has been season-long. It’s not as though Man United have one of the greatest midfields in the league – Scott McTominay and Fred play most weeks.

Gary Neville is clearly struggling to see any legitimate reason as to why van de Beek doesn’t play for the Red Devils, as he revealed during a Twitter Q&A session on Friday morning.

As with most of these things, there’ll either be something going on behind the scenes that we’re not aware of, or Solskjaer may well just not be a fan of van de Beek as a player.

Either way, the truth will come out eventually – it always does.
