Broadcasting icon Des Lynam has sensationally backed Gary Neville to become the next Manchester United manager and ‘save the club’.
Neville is one of the best pundits around, but when he managed Valencia he didn’t exactly set the world alight and had a pretty torrid time in Spain.
The former England player was sacked just three months after he was hired, having won only 3 La Liga games from 16 matches.

His stint as manager was so bad, that he hasn’t returned to management since and he’s publicly admitted he struggled in the role.
Despite this Lynam has backed Neville to be a success at Old Trafford and explained why he is the right man for the job.
In an article for the Telegraph he wrote:
“Neville would still be the best man for the job. He has Manchester United blood running through his veins. He is deeply hurt by the club’s present predicament. He has a powerful personality and would be a strong presence in the dressing room. Oh and the money men had better watch out, Neville is an astute businessman.”

It’s safe to say fellow pundit and Liverpool legend didn’t agree that Neville would be the man to save Manchester United.
On X formerly Twitter he quoted the article backing Neville with 7 laughing face emojis.
