Lightweight prospect Ottman Azaitar was set for a fine career in the UFC with a brilliant record of 13 fights, 13 wins and 0 losses but his blatant lack of respect for COVID guidelines has got him kicked from the UFC.
Dana White was speaking ahead of Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier’s weigh in revealed today exactly why Ottman was kicked from the promotion report the Daily Mail.
‘Yeah it’s pretty amazing actually,’ White said. ‘So he and his team cut off their wristbands, gave them to somebody outside the bubble – I don’t know how they even did it – that guy taped them and showed up here with a bag.
‘He went into a room, shimmied across four balconies, went in his room, dropped the bag off, changed his clothes and left.
‘When security tried to stop him he wouldn’t stop either way and it’s just bad. He’s gone, he’s no longer a UFC fighter. And he’s not fighting tonight.’
The UFC is only going ahead due to their strict guidelines around fight islands and protecting the integrity of their COVID free bubbles.
You can only enter the bubble if necessary and you have to have completed your quarantine under their supervision, Ottman broke all of these rules and jeopardized the safety of every person attending UFC 257.
Dana has said that the 30 year old Moroccan is no longer a UFC fighter, he was also speaking to another reporter and said how:
‘One guy got inside the bubble, went in through a room and shimmied down four balconies, got in through his balcony and dropped off a bag of we don’t know what.
‘He changed his clothes and went back outside the bubble. We got everything on camera, we saw the whole thing and how it all went down and pulled his fight.’
Azaitar was set to take on Matt Frevola on fight night but Frevola will now face Arman Tsarukyan.
