For the second game running, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named on the bench by his international side.

Portugal is set to face Morocco in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in a much-anticipated game, but will be without their captain from the get-go.

Ronaldo was dropped against Switzerland in the round of 16 and has again been handed the news that he will not be in the starting eleven. He is replaced once again by the promising young striker, Goncalo Ramos.

Ramos vindicated his manager’s decision last time out by scoring a sensational hat trick, leaving fans around the world saying Ronaldo who?

The 37-year-old was not happy about the decision before the Switzerland game, with Fernando Santos revealing that they got into an argument. But as long as Ramos is scoring goals, it’s hard to question Santos’ decision-making.

There is only one change to the Portugal side, Ruben Neves comes in for William Carvalho.
