Conor McGregor has set a potential UFC return date as the Irishman ramps up his recovery from the leg break he suffered against Dustin Poirier.

Irrespective of whether you like Conor McGregor or believe he remains one of the elite fighters in the UFC, there’s no denying that the sport is bigger and better when he’s fit and active.

Unfortunately, the UFC has been without McGregor ever since he broke his leg during the trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. By the sound of things, we could be forced to wait a little longer to see him back in action.

As is reported by the Mirror, McGregor responded to a fan on Twitter saying, “Plenty left in me too. I will be back mid 2022, easily.”

The former two-weight champion is up and walking, but it remains to be seen just how durable that leg would be to kicks. He’d obviously rather wait a little longer and ensure that he’s fighting at 100% capacity.

Midway through 2022 sounds like a long way away, but it’ll be here before we know it. 2022 promises to be another blockbuster calendar year for both UFC and boxing…
