Leon Edwards has called out Conor McGregor for a history-making UFC title fight at Madison Square Garden.

The Irishman became the first UFC champion to ever hold two-division belts at the same time when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez in 2016.

But no fighter in UFC history has ever won the belts at three different weight classes.

Current welterweight champion Leon Edwards has proposed a mouthwatering clash with ‘The Notorious’.

He said on The MMA Hour: “Why not? Let’s give him the opportunity to become three-division world champion.

“Give me the opportunity to take out a guy like Conor McGregor. New York, that would be perfect. That is the fight.

“I feel like he’s got to take out Michael, I take out ‘No-one-remembers-his-name’ and we’ll go from there. We’ll go to New York, MSG, let’s go!

“That’s the fight. We’ve got business to take care of, but that’s the fight. That’s what needs to happen and it should happen.”

Both men have upcoming fights with McGregor finally returning to the Octagon against Michael Chandler on June 29 at UFC 303.

A month later Edwards looks to defend his title against Muhammad Bilal at UFC 304.
