The Ballon D’Or organisers have been accused of taking a sly dig at Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo last night.
Ronaldo was not present at the award ceremony in Paris, probably because he knew he had absolutely no chance of winning it.
Still, CR7 is the player with the second most Ballon D’Or wins in history, he commands respect and ought to be given it by the organisers.
He wasn’t on Monday night, though, with a snap of him posing shirtless next to host Didier Drogba being plastered up on the screen for everyone to giggle at.

While it was done in good humour and only with the intention of rinsing Drogba, there are some fans who have branded it disrespectful.
Unreal disrespect to show this during the ceremony. Even Drogba was asking why this was even shown. pic.twitter.com/apD27ZBi7n

It really is Ronaldo vs the world man the disrespect is alarming pic.twitter.com/ZwUCqYFW3R

You can understand why fans would interpret it as the organisers laughing at Ronaldo in his absence, but ultimately it was just a joke and at Drogba’s expense.
CR7 fans really ought to get themselves a sense of humour, though that may have been difficult after seeing Lionel Messi win the Ballon D’Or for the seventh time…
