Haaland (20) scooped the award which is given by sports journalists to a footballer under 21 playing in Europe’s top tier who has been perceived to have been the most impressive during a calendar year.

The award has been presented to some players who have gone on to be megastars in football such as Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero.
Haaland was quick to show why he deserved the award after the youngster scored four of Dortmund’s five goals against Hertha Berlin this weekend.
Despite scoring four goals Haaland revealed that he wasn’t too impressed with being substituted and told his coach: “To be honest after the game, he [coach Lucien Favre] asked me how many I scored. He asked me: Did you score three? I said: No, four. Only four because you subbed me out. So I’m a bit mad at him right now but that’s how it is.”
