Wales have all but blown their chances at progressing to the knockout stages of the tournament after a dismal 2-0 loss against Iran on Friday.
Wales tried to hold on after goalkeeper Wayne Hennessy was sent off for a horror challenge but their resolve was broken in the dying minutes. Rouzbeh Cheshmi scored first with a screamer and then Ramin Rezaeian put the nail in the coffin.
However, this disappointing result hasn’t stopped Welsh fans from having a sense of humour. In an interview with Talk Sport, one supporter likened the result to when the “Iron Sheikh beat Bob Backlund at WrestleMania”.
“For Iran it’s probably their biggest win since Iron Sheikh beat Bob Backlund at WrestleMania!” 🤣
“We have got to go beat England!” 👀

Wales now must beat England next week if they want to stand a chance of making it out of the group. Considering England beat this Iran team 6-2 a few days ago, hopes won’t be too high.
After over 60 years out of the competition, Wales will be disappointed with their performances.
