Emre Can scored an incredible goal from the halfway line in Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 victory over VfL Bochum in the DFB Pokal Round of 16 yesterday evening.
Move over David Beckham, move over Wayne Rooney, you have a challenger.
In all seriousness, it may not have been the most aesthetically pleasing effort, but Can will certainly be proud of his maiden goal of the season.

It all started with Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Riemann coming out of his box to make a clearance, but his attempt didn’t go as far as he probably would have liked as it landed just short of the halfway line.

From there, Can came in behind winger Takuma Asano to nick the ball, before flicking the ball forward with his second touch, somehow getting a decent amount of power on the effort which was enough to send it flying forward, as a sprawling Riemann couldn’t stop the ball from going over the line.
I wonder what the xG was on that goal, as Dortmund advanced to the tournament’s quarter-finals….
