Edouard Mendy was absolutely delighted at full-time yesterday night. Not because Chelsea had reached the Champions League final, but because it was time for a beer.
Mendy was absolutely superb over the two legs against Real Madrid. He wasn’t called upon as frequently as Thibaut Courtois, but when he was, he was equal to everything that Los Blancos threw at him.

The Senegal international had earned the right to sit down with a beer in the Chelsea dressing room post-match, and it looks as though that’s exactly what he did.
BT Sport‘s cameras caught what Mendy said as he was walking down the Stamford Bridge tunnel and towards the dressing room, where the celebrations will have got underway.
“We can have a beer! Yesssssss!”
It’s hard to interpret whether the beer would be had in celebration of Chelsea’s triumph, or the celebrations were a consequence of Mendy realising the whistle had blown and he could have a beer.
Either way, get this man a pint!
