Thomas Tuchel’s Newcastle half-time team talk shocked the Chelsea players to victory

According to an insider at The Athletic Thomas Tuchel’s half-time motivational team talk against Newcastle shocked the players when he offered them time off as an incentive to win the game.

‘He was giving the team talk and then suddenly said, ‘If you win this game, I will give you two days off’.

‘Everyone looked at each other thinking, ‘What the…?!’ This was the first they’d heard of it. They’d never had something like this before. It was his way of motivating them.’ the insider said.

Tuchel’s tactic worked as Chelsea went on to win the game 2-0 adding to their half-time lead which was an own-goal scored by Federico Fernandez in the 10th minute.

Tammy Abraham secured victory for the Blues thanks to his 65th minute strike securing all three points for Tuchel’s men.

Tuchel officially became the new Chelsea manager in January after the 47-year-old was appointed following the departure of club legend Frank Lampard.

Chelsea are unbeaten since the Germans arrival but they have a tough week as they’ll face both Liverpool and Manchester United in the space of four days.

  1. It was so incredibly motivating they went back in time and took the lead in the 10th minute. Who writes this nonsense?
