Thiago Silva proved that age really is just a number with an OUSTANDING goal-line clearance during Chelsea’s clash with Juventus this evening.
Chelsea headed into their tussle with Juve at Stamford Bridge knowing they’d have to improve upon the Italian giants’ 1-0 winning margin in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign.
After Trevoh Chalobah found the back of the net midway through the first-half, the reigning champions of Europe were off to a flying start on their home turf.
However, their good work was almost undone immediately.
Juventus went up the other end of the field and Alvaro Morata was slipped through 1v1 with Edouard Mendy. The Spaniard lobbed the goalkeeper and looked as though he’d levelled the scores – but Thiago Silva had other ideas.
The 37-years-old centre-back sprinted back towards his own goal and hooked the ball over his head to prevent the goal. The speed of recovery, athleticism and flexibility from a player of his grand old age are all truly commendable.
