Sir Alex speaks about Wayne Rooney’s managerial future

Wayne Rooney has just stepped into the world of management and the whole football world has their eyes on the legend.

Rooney retired from professional play yesterday and announced that he would be managed Derby County on a deal that lasts until the summer of 2023.

The Premier League legend and Manchester United top goal scorer  won an amazing  five Premier Leagues and one Champions League under the greatest manager of all time, Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sir Alex knows Wayne better than anyone and he has had his say on the young English manager.

“His knowledge of the game is not in question and he has a presence about him.

“I really do hope he goes well. It is a big step early on. He is a wealthy young man and doesn’t need to go into management to look after the family.

“He wants to do it and that’s the important thing.

“There is no point being a manager because someone has asked you to.

“He knows more than most that he needs results. He has started well and it is what he wanted so hopefully he does well.”

Quotes from the Sun

Sir Alex mentions how Wayne ‘has a presence about him’ that I’m sure will scare a lot of his opposition in the Championship and that he hopes Wayne ‘does well’ after starting strong.

Playing under such a legendary manager, Rooney is sure to have some amazing tricks hidden in his locker that we will see in the near future.

Do you think Wayne has what it takes to be a success at Derby?
