Roy Keane Had Some Very Strong Words For Ronald Koeman, Everton & Their Players

The James McCarthy situation took another twist today after Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane had some very strong words to say about Ronald Koeman, Everton and it’s players.

The former Manchester United captain, who is never far from controversy, responded to McCarthy’s withdrawal from the Ireland squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifier with Austria.

McCarthy has made just three Premier League appearances for Everton this year but was called up to the Ireland squad anyway.

Everton boss, Ronald Koeman, has publicly spoken of his anger at the Ireland management for insisting on selecting McCarthy and playing him, something which he feels has contributed to the midfielder’s problems.

Today Roy Keane had his chance to respond to Koeman’s remarks and he said “I’m not sure when they last won a trophy maybe, as a club, and they’re a brilliant club, maybe their players need to toughen up a bit.”

Keane also went on to say that the Ireland management have never taken “unnecessary risks” with players in the squad.
