The termination of Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract was almost guaranteed after his scathing interview with Piers Morgan last week. In the interview, Ronaldo criticised Erik Ten Hag for “disrespecting” him and claimed his teammates were unprofessional.
Many fans were left puzzled by his decision to agree to the interview and questioned the timing of its release. After the full 90-minute video aired, it felt like only a matter of time before the club took action against him.
That action came on Tuesday when Manchester United decided to terminate Ronaldo’s contract by mutual agreement.

But just hours before that decision was announced, Ronaldo showcased his new watch collection which he co-designed on Instagram. Interestingly the design he picked was his winning header against Manchester United for Real Madrid in 2013.

This seemed an interesting choice considering the news which followed soon after. There seems to be no love lost between club and player, Ronaldo will seek a move in January and Ten Hag can now focus solely on the club.
