Belgium have been eliminated from the World Cup after Romelu Lukaku missed three sitters, two of which came in the dying moments of the game.

After a tense 0-0 draw with Croatia, Belgium finished third in their group and have been eliminated from the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

This is the end for many of Belgium’s ‘golden generation, who were repeatedly labelled as ‘too old’ to win the World Cup.

Lukaku came on at half-time and could’ve walked off the pitch with a hat trick by the end of the game. But the Inter Milan forward had a howler and missed three absolute sitters.

Lukaku has 68 goals in 103 games for his country but yet couldn’t find the back of the net tonight.

Croatia will most likely play against Spain in the round of 16, assuming they can beat Japan later on today.

Morocco beat Canada 2-1, in the other game in Group F and finished group leaders. They will now await to see who finishes runners-up in Group E.
