Despite Arsenal winning 3-0 in normal time, bizarre tournament rules meant that Arsenal and Lyon still took part in a penalty shootout.
The two sides are appearing In a friendly tournament during the Qatar World Cup, and the rules state that regardless of the full-time result, both teams involved in the match will partake in a penalty shootout – with the winner receiving an extra point.
As strange as the rule may be, it allowed for a rather embarrassing moment for Rayan Cherki as the Frenchman fluffed his lines and sent his panenka penalty straight into the arms of the Arsenal;l goalkeeper.

Arsenal continued their fine form and were comfortable 3-0 winners on the night, with some familiar first-team face on the pitch. Gabriel Magalhaes. Fabio Vieira and Eddie Nketiah were all on the scoresheet and Mikel Arteta’s side seem to be ticking over nicely during this rare Christmas break.
