Photo: Manchester United fans furious with Fernandinho for ‘unacceptable’ tweet

Fernandinho has caused havoc on twitter today for what may just be an ill-timed unlucky tweet but Manchester United fans are not having that. They believe he intended to mock a very sensitive topic and they want him banned by the FA.

A tweet from Fernandinho today that went out just after 6:30pm has now been deleted after it encountered thousands of hate filled replies from Manchester United fans and neutrals.

Today marks the 63rd anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster in which 23 people tragically lost their lives as their plane crashed shortly after taking off from Germany. Eight Manchester United players were among those killed in the disaster and are remembered every year since.

Fans believe Fernandinho’s tweet today mocks that disaster as he is a Manchester City player and a rival to United.

Multiple players have received bans recently for inappropriate social media posts including City player Bernardo Silva and Manchester United’s own Edinson Cavani.

Does Fernandinho deserved to be banned for this or is it an accident?

  1. That’s certainly a reach of logic. Fern probably has more class in one fingernail then an entire stadium full of United fans pre-lockdown. You’re sounding like a bunch of Karen’s – or Scousers.
