The former Armagh footballer and All-Ireland winner Oisin McConville was on The Sunday Game with former Kerry footballer Pat Spillane and the two didn’t hold back when it came to giving out about the disgraceful scenes that took place at Croke Park and especially the eye gouge.

"Disgusting. Scandalous. We can't hide behind this. We should be talking about a great game of football, and then they went and destroyed it."

It was a cracking game of football between two great sides and it’s a pity that the game is over shadowed by such a disgraceful incident and something needs to be done about this and made an example of. Surely we’ll see players going down different tunnels from now on.
This is a big problem in the GAA when tensions are high, it was an awful shame also that one side had to lose on penalties.
I really take issue with Colm O’Rourke calling Armagh thugs and branding it thuggery. He has a short memory. He played in a Meath team in the 80’s that during a match against Tyrone Tyrone players were left like the walking wounded by a Meath team that had no regard for opposition players nor for the rules of the game either. If he wants to use the word thuggery he should watch a video of that particular game and then shut his mouth. He is anti northern anyway so it doesn’t surprise me that he takes every opportunity to slam northern teams. RTE had the sense to get rid of Joe Brolly for his ridiculous comments and I believe they should do the same with O’Rourke and Spillane.
