Newcastle will be without one of their centre-backs for the rest of the season as Fabian Schar was taken off in a stretcher and now has been scanned, the Switzerland International player has torn knee ligaments.
The 29 year old was stretchered off in the 75th minute against Southampton as his side went on to win 3-2 despite finishing the game with nine men as Steve Bruce had used all three subs and Jeff Hendrick had been sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the second half.
An official statement from Newcastle revealed that Schar will undergo further assessment and he will see specialists but Fabian also made a social media post on twitter revealing the extent of the injury.
He says he will be out ‘for a few months’ and his aim is to be back for the Euros which will take place in the Summer meaning that Schar is set to miss the entire rest of the season,
