Mikel Arteta reveals transfer decision after injury to Arsenal forward

It was not a good day for Arsenal on Saturday, as they lost 2-0 to Juventus in a mid-season friendly and were handed an injury blow as Reiss Nelson was brought off during the game with a hamstring issue.

The winger’s injury comes at a bad time for both himself and Arsenal, with the Gunners about to enter a busy New Year schedule and Nelson seemingly coming into Arteta’s plans prior to the World Cup break after he bagged a brace and registered an assist against Nottingham Forest at the end of October.

With the severity of Nelson’s injury still not confirmed, Mikel Arteta insisted that this situation will not change his plans for the January transfer window.

β€œWe don’t know the extent of the injury.

β€œThe fact he had to leave the pitch immediately is not good news, especially for someone like Reiss, who is really powerful and fast,” admitted Arteta.

β€œLet’s see what happens. We know what we have to do and that hasn’t changed the plans.”

Arsenal’s Premier League campaign restarts on Boxing Day when they host West Ham United.
