Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor REMATCH: Extraordinary financial details leaked

The Sun have provided more details of Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor’s proposed boxing rematch.

The tabloid are continuing to double down on their claims that Mayweather and McGregor are set to enter the ring for a second time, despite the Irishman not yet having made his UFC return.

Despite the fact we’d deem it unlikely to happen any time soon, the outlet believe that talks are underway and it appears likely at this point in time that they will result in contracts being signed.

If the fight is to be confirmed, it’s claimed that the fight could earn the pair a combined €1bn, which is more than they pocketed from their first bout way back in 2017.

The problem we have with that claim is that Mayweather is long retired now and the hype surrounding McGregor is incomparable to what it was back then.

The priority for McGregor also has to be getting fit and returning to his MMA career. This would be a rather unnecessary side quest for McGregor, who has been out of action for a year now.

Perhaps The Sun have got a remarkable scoop here, but we’d take it with an almighty pinch of salt. The €1bn figure certainly seems pie in the sky to us…
