Lionel Messi edges closer to breaking ANOTHER world record…this time off the pitch

Posted by

Lionel Messi won his first World Cup yesterday and Argentina’s third as La Albiceleste beat France 4-2 on penalties at Lusail Stadium after the score finished 3-3 after extra time.

Messi scored twice during the match, continuing to prove that he is still the greatest player on the planet, and after the match he took to Instagram to thank his supporters, team mates, and family for helping him to reach the pinnacle of football.

The multi-picture post consisted of several images of him lifting the World Cup trophy and since he released it, the post has amassed 55.7 million likes, 200,00 short of the world record Instagram post – a picture of an egg – that was posted almost four years ago.
