Leeds United are going to fork out £300k for a new football pitch after Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish commented on the state of the surface.

Leeds are not expected to be busy in the January transfer window this month but they will be making one significant purchase and fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have a part to play also.

The Whites will be installing a brand new pitch at Elland Road over the next 12 days as they use their healthy break in the playing calendar to upgrade their facilities.

Leeds’ pitch got a lot of slack following last weekend’s defeat to Brighton – with Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish taking aim at the state of the surface.

Thankfully for Leeds a temporary fix was available and they have Tottenham Hotspur to thank for digging them out of current predicament.

According to the Athletic, Leeds have bought a whole pitch from Spurs who were growing one to be used at their own stadium.

The price of the replacement pitch is reported to be around £300,000 and Spurs were happy to sell the turf as there has been lack of NFL fixtures this season meaning Tottenham’s stadium hasn’t been used as an NFL pitch – which it is equipped to do.
