Jamie Carragher makes BOLD Cristiano Ronaldo assumption

Cristiano Ronaldo remains without a club after he terminated his Manchester United contract during the World Cup following his interview about the club with Piers Morgan.

While at United, a number of disciplinary issues saw him left out of several matchday squads and he was also dropped by Portugal manager Fernando Santos for his country’s match with Switzerland after expressing his displeasure at being substituted during a group stage match in Qatar.

Speaking on a podcast this week, Jamie Carragher said that he thinks Ronaldo is becoming more of an issue than a solution for managers as he approaches the end of his career.

Ronaldo hasn’t changed, he’s always been that sort of character, everyone’s known that – but he was worth the hassle.

And that’s like everything in football, when we talk about a manager making a decision, can you put up with that?

You don’t cut off your nose to spite your face, but when it gets to that stage where you’re thinking ‘this is becoming more of a problem’, when a manager looks at you as a player, every manager wants the same thing: high performance, low maintenance.

“When it starts getting weighted to the high maintenance and the scales are more tilted towards high maintenance, it’s time to go.”

Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr have been the side most linked with Ronaldo in recent days, with reports of a £170million contract in preparation to offer the Portuguese forward.
