England midfielder skips training with second Euro 2020 fixture vs Scotland just days away

Jack Grealish is NOT training with the England squad today – with the second Euro 2020 group fixture against Scotland scheduled for Friday at 8pm.

Grealish, on the back of a quite brilliant campaign for Aston Villa, has worked his way into Southgate’s squad, and most England supporters’ preferred starting XI.

However, the Villa skipper was left on the bench for England’s clash with Croatia on Sunday, with Mason Mount, Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling being picked ahead of him.

Ultimately, Southgate can’t pick all of his exciting attacking players at once, but Grealish is one in particular who Three Lions fans will be itching to see join the action.

Unfortunately for all those who had their fingers crossed Grealish would feature against the Scots on Friday, the 25-year-old is currently not training with the rest of the squad.

Sky Sports report that Grealish has stayed inside to do gym work, while his England teammates prepare for the game against Scotland, which isn’t a particularly promising sign.

Grealish did spend several months out injured towards the end of the season, so this may well be Southgate managing him carefully, rather than a flare up of his shin problem.

Southgate will be speaking to the press ahead of England’s second Euro 2020 fixture, so you imagine, should Grealish remain absent through the week, he will be quizzed over his condition.
