ITV commentator, Sam Matterface, has received a lot of criticism from furious fans for insulting Harry Kane after his penalty miss.
England crashed out of the World Cup on Saturday evening, after losing 2-1 to France. The Three Lions managed to claw back a goal after going 1-0 down with a penalty from their talisman, Kane.

They almost repeated this same feat when Mason Mount was deemed to have been fouled in the box and a second penalty was awarded.
Kane stepped up but blazed the ball over the bar, condemning England to defeat and an early flight home.
While many at-home sympathised with the striker, Matterface took the chance to aim a dig at him.
‘We needed Gary Lineker but we got Chris Waddle.”
Fans took offence to this and hit out at the Englishman on Twitter.
Is it just me or was it actually really shitty of commentator Sam Matterface to say, “They needed Gary Lineker and they got Chris Waddle” about the player whose first penalty kept England in the game and in doing so, equalled Wayne Rooney’s record-breaking all-time tally?
