Former Red Devils Captain Announces his Retirment

The Ecuador international Antonio Valencia spent ten years with the Old Trafford club scoring 17 goals and over 200 appearance for the Red Devils including captaining the side on numerous occasions. But now the time has come for the defender to hang up his boots for club and country.

“I was able to travel to Europe, which I would never have dreamed of. I played for Villarreal and Recreativo de Huelva, and then my second home: England. Wigan was a unique experience, and God allowed me to come to Manchester United and be their captain,” Valencia said.

“I would change my knee right now to continue playing. Soccer has left me very good friends like Jefferson, Juan Mata, Chicharito; I take very good teammates.”
